"Lewis Clark" - Re: Attic Fans - worth it? - I live in central Florida, land of blown-in insulation. I have about a foot of insulation. I have measured the attic temp on hot afternoons. It gets up over 120 degrees. Thank you and Ricodjour for your replies. casteele95thbgheavy@yahoo.com - Black widow spider bite and the creation of a job? - Am in San Diego, and recently lost a job (non-construction) and my apartment due to - to make a very long story very short - a black widow spider bite. Now I have to either find a job, or create one. A friend gave me a 24-foot motor home (1972 Dodge ... one of those boxy looking things) so that I wouldn't have to sleep in my car. In the "create a job" category, I was wondering: ...

"butch burton" - Re: Attic Fans - worth it? - where do you live - if you have adequate openings in both the ridge vents and soffits - that should be enough. Adding more insulation would probably be more cost effective - how much insulation do you have now? Adding another hole in the roof is another opportunity for leaks also - not familiar with solar powered vents but unless they are really cheap - would not waste the money. ...

"Rich-out-West" - Re: protecting 4x4 fence posts set in concrete - Go with pressure treated lumber. If you cut the post, treat the end because the pressure treatment will not have penetrated to the center of a 4x4. The lable on the pressure treated stuff I've recently been buying specifically says cut ends must be treated. There are products available just for this purpose. Dig a hole deeper than the fence post and then do the back fill w...

"Peter Bogiatzidis" - Re: OT? protecting 4x4 fence posts set in concrete - Hello, I saw an old episode of TOH where they installed composite fence posts below ground set in the cement. Holes were then bored into the bottoms of the exposed 4x4 wooden posts, into which they placed PVC sleeves. Then they used 1" rebar inserted into the composite post base and placed their wooden 4x4 post over the top of that. If I recall correctly, they also used some sort ...
