DaveC - Where the wall meets the carpet - The house is being remodeled. Carpet and tack strips were torn up last week. I removed the molding along the walls in the living room. Now it's time to put it back. I notice that in other rooms, the molding is not completely down to the concrete slab, but sits up about 1/2-3/4 inch. Is this a standard measurement? Should I put it down now, or will the carpet installers...

Some Guy - Re: Removal of roof truss cross-members, to make for easier attic - > You could rent a lot of storage space or buy and build a small > storage shed for the same amount of money. If you're a half decent carpenter and you throw enough 2x4's at it, you'll probably end up with something stronger than you started with. If you use 1/4 bolts with fender washers and (or) #12 or #14 wood screws and pre-drill the holes (and not nail anything together) you'll...

ransley@webtv.net (m Ransley) - Re: Coat outdoor particle board? - Particle board for an exterior door! thats funny, no way is it worth waisting you time to get it smooth, when it rains or over winter and spring it will swell and pop off anything you use. Paint it, when the glue fails and its all soft redo it right with real wood. . ...

"Olaf" - Re: Removal of roof truss cross-members, to make for easier attic storage access...[??] - It seems like you're being careful about this; which is good. "Never trust a truss" is what many firefighters say. When any of the support members of the truss are compromised the strength of the entire truss is compromised. Trying to build attic space in a web of truss supports isn't going to be easy. You'd probably have a safer project if you just put your shelving boards in th...

"butch burton" - Re: Coat outdoor particle board? - Don't use standard particle board on an outdoor application - there is a grade used for out door signs that is weather resistant - use that and it is smooth as well.
