"AutoTracer" - Re: Insurance Concern... - Search on "NEC 220-31 Load calculation" for examples on how to calculate the load requirements of your house. It's a bit confusing at first but after looking at some examples it became clear to me. This calculation will tell you if the service panel is sized correctly. If you get a permit for your work and it is inspected and signed off by a city inspector, I can't see how any insur...

frippletoot@hotmail.com - Re: Labor, future craftsmen, undocumented workers - Robert, I don't think most people object so much to the origin of immigrants, or even that they're immigrants, as much as they object to illegally using them for labor, and that many of them ARE unskilled, (and unsupervised). Add that to the shortcuts some builders take purposely, lax code enforcement in many areas, and you have a wave of ...

"clintonG" - Re: Soil & Water Erosion Caused Damage to Garage and Backyard. - The local ordinances cover the municipal property not the taxpayers. No surprise there huh? No soil or water can be diverted to municipal sidewalks for example but not one word in the ordinances about neighbors. This neighbor is an @hole. I proposed and offered to help pay for the cost of a wall and also offered my labor when he first moved in. <%= Clinton Gallagher

"DanG" - Re: small sink hole in backyard - We dug one up after several years of filling. Found remnants of a model T, two 55 gallon drums, and a slew of old bottles. Found this stuff at about 17 feet (as far as our backhoe would go without more efforts. Filled it back in and have not had a repeat. We may have won just adding dirt a few more times. Suspect ours was an old water well. (top posted for your convenience)...

ransley@webtv.net (m Ransley) - Re: French drain odor - I pour a gallon of bleach in my sump pit if I notice any odors, bleach kills mold. Turn off the pump, fill the pit fill and add a gallon or 2 for a few hours. Perhaps your basement walls or floor have mold also, spraying bleach in a garden sprayer is an easy way to kill it. Maybe you also need a dehumidifier, it wont help the sump but will help the basement. Covers of different styles ...
