"Lil' Dave" - Re: Pressure treated bottom plate? - If the sill plate is required to be PT lumber per IRC 2001, you have to use that. IRC 2001 is the basis for all building code for municipalities over 5000 pop. in Texas, minimum. Texas state law. If the lumber suppliers in your area supply to consumers in a population density less the 5000, then that makes sense somewhat. Since W. Texas is a generally dry area, low annual rainfall ...

"SidKnee" - Stone cills - I am awaiting fitting of some UPVC doors to all my external doors. The supplier has asked that in order to be able to fit their doors and to make it withstand a powered wheelchair user (which I need). I would need to install Stone steps /cills at the bottom. Can anyone advise what these actually are and where I could order these at a good price. I need 5 of them. Sid ....

"ANDY WIERSMA" - Re: Contractor Hate on This Site!!! - To proove my point look up in the posts to where it Asks how you can tell if your contractor is good. Look at the attacks on me personaly just because of my age. I guess my smart ass nature leaves me going back to defend myself and expose these two idiots alittle farther. Obviously you arn't educated enough to read the hole spool taht started several weeks ago. Once again you two are a day late and a dollar short. Just like your life huh? "rj" - Re: Contractor Hate on This Site!!! - Yes, the biggest problem is greed and the solution is the coming burst of the "bubble." We all know it's coming and the banks and unscrupulous builders are grabbing for all they can get. Licensed framing contractors? No such thing exist in Palm Coast, Florida. Builders like Seagate Homes hire unlicensed "contractors" and the result is BIG money for the builder and crap houses for their c...

"Joe" - Re: Pressure treated bottom plate? - It sure can't hurt and the price wouldn't be that much more. If you would feel more comfortable with a treated plate, by all means use one.
