Turn off the pump, fill the pit fill and add a gallon or 2 for a few hours. Perhaps your basement walls or floor have mold also, spraying bleach in a garden sprayer is an easy way to kill it. Maybe you also need a dehumidifier, it wont help the sump but will help the basement. Covers of different styles ... |

This solution would have the benefit that the concrete can be poured immediately and the remainder of the design could be deferred until later in the summer when there's more time to plan.
