nyp112@gmail.com - When Is the Right Time? - I'm moving to a new area to attend graduate school, and am interested in buying a place to live rather than throwing out money on rent for a few more years like I have done as an undergrad. Is this worthwhile? I will be working to pay rent anyway, and according to mortgage calculators I would have a monthly payment comparable to renting if I took advantage of a federal first home program...

"smyk" - Re: Wallpaper mess - help! - Well, the only two things that are bound to work is putting one more layer of wallpaper on top of things or covering the whole mess with a new layer of sheetrock. I'd go with the latter option. If the wallpaper doesn't come off clean it's usually a lost cause trying to get it off. One thing you can try is a wallpaper steamer which helps quite a bit sometimes. If you're confident the w...

"Art" - Re: Leaking masonry chimney - do you have a chimeney and masonry cap on top of the chimney? They sell stainless steel chimney caps to stop birds from getting it and then a roofer can pu aluminum flashing material over the top masonry so water doesn't saturate the bricks from the top. I would start there. "smyk" wrote in message news:1115516163.767525.82810@g14g2000cwa.googlegroups.com....

"webmaker" - playroom paint ideas needed - I have a really dark paneled playroom/sewing room that needs some life. The biggest obstacle is that there is a huge dark red brick fireplace in the middle of the room. I don't want to paint it so it has to blend with the rest of the room. There are also fake rafters across the ceiling. I was told that the playroom half of the room has beautiful pine paneling under the dark cheap panelin...
