"Lil' Dave" - Re: Realistic Building Costs for Home (Can it be done for $167K?) - Get estimates for septic system, meter loop drop, water well drilling/installation, driveway access, landscaping costs.. Throw in 20 percent. What you have left over may be for the house. However, some builders will do the whole kit and kaboodle. This substantially raises the costs as the builder takes his cut in this. The more you do, the less expensive the total outlay. Some ...

"Joseph" - Realistic Building Costs for Home (Can it be done for $167K?) - Hello all, My wife and I purchased a 3-acre plot of land with the intent of putting a $300K home (in Canadian dollars) on it. However, my wife has been accepted to vet school, and so we can now afford $200K ($167K in US dollars) for the home, including septic, etc., etc. Before we go to the trouble of getting an architect, etc., I am wondering if it is even possible to build a mo...

"NuckinFutz" - Re: Drinking water solution - Actually it can be done reasonably cheaply. Any marine supply store will have the necessary components. Essentially what you are looking at is a potable water delivery system for a boat. They are typically operated via a small battery operated pump hidden in the cabinet. They are about the same size as 2 packs of cigarettes. try West Marine "No" wrote...

"vaughnet@gmail.com" - Re: Sealing a recently poured concrete floor - I would fall into the epoxy category here. I would recommend a 4 coat epoxy floor coating with a chemical resistant urethane top coat. We have had this done for our last few clients and they have been extremely happy with it. With the urethane top coats it is resistant to all of your standard "garage fluids" and seems to hold up well against the occasional dropped hammer, etc. . ...
