The deck will only be about 250mm from the ground to match the height of the top of pool. My question is, is it safe to attach a ledger board to the pool shell? The pool shell is 300mm thick reinforced concrete, and I would drill in 50mm and insert an expanding masonary bolt to hold the board. My pool builder h... |

How often supported & span between supports? Was it really cambered (pre-bent) to account for dead load? Seems unlikely for a typical residential application Are you sure it was installed upside down? w/o seeing the installation it's kinda hard to tell, but jacking to level seems ok. In one case, a square shaped main beam was installed sideways in a hotel. Well it was very strong when installed the proper way, but quite weak when installed sideways - it collapsed. I would contact the manufacturer of the I-beam and ask to be sure. |

A year after living in our newly constructed ranch house we noticed that the floors were separating from the floor molding in one area of our house. It turns out that one of the posts holding one the the I-beams was loose causing it to sag AND the I-beam was installed upside down. The builder put new posts in and have been cranking on them to get the I-beam straight. ... |

I think I'll try to get him to have the city engineer look at it. I think he may just be inclined to completely leave it alone. The wall is actually already in place and was built right up to the beam. The studs right now have very little weight on them but the roof is yet to be shingled, and we do get snow of course in this area. I talked to the structural engineer and he didn't seem overly concerned. . ... |
