M&S - Galvalume, exposed cuts, rust, etc. - Hey all, Had some questions I thought I would throw out in hopes for some input. Here aluminum has recently shot through the roof hence coil stock, flashing and so on. Metal roofs are very common in the area and when we do them we get all the trim, drip, and so on from the same shop as the sheets and they break whatever profiles we need to our specs. so we dont have to break it o...

dynamorph@hotmail.com - Skylights, do I need to buy the manufacturer's flashing? - I'm installing 4 skylights in a porch. Velux fixed models. I may need to put on a metal roof, or have a roofer do it. The flashing kit for metal roofs costs more than the skylight itself. I am wondering if it is really necessary to buy the manufacturer's kit, or is it possible to do the flashing oneself or have a roofer do it using standard flashing materials. Thanks, -- ...

"BP" - Re: Window levels in Kitchen - It is standard to line up the tops of all the windows. In an alternate situation, like when I'm asked to make the window sit flush with the countertop, I want to have the actual window on site before I frame the opening. Then you can take measurements to get it to install perfectly. Never go by the specs if you don't have a fudge factor. "SidKnee"

"Darren" - Concreting - reconcreting existing concreted patio post - Hi I have a small patio outside my back door. It has an 8" by 2" beam over the back door, to which the structure is attached, including 3 posts. One of the posts is in the garden and the garden has been excavated. The post is 4by4 inches and has a metal U-clamp at its base. The clamp is concreted in 15 inches or so of concrete and with 12 of those inches exposed, (I me...
