It can't cost them too much to take the piece off the assembly line before the dent is punched into it. I think Matt has the right answer. |

(no ridge in the center) Cut it in half lengthwise, give it a squeeze over the pipe to spread it a little. Clean the pipe and inside the fitting, flux and sweat it over the hole. Done deal.
