Rock - Re: ceramic tile glaze - I had to scrub like crazy. I went to PepBoys auto parts and bought a power polisher for $15. It was the best investment I ever made. Not only did it work great for scrubbing like crazy, but my car has never looked better. Rock On 6 Mar 2005 18:47:22 -0800, tmurph2@peoplepc.com wrote: >Did you use plain cement grout or acrylic? Rock - Re: Architect Performance Question - Thank you all for your responses and inputs. Today, I sent the "demand letter" to the management company, and have requested a meeting with them and the maintenance people. I am now researching an attorney. The first hour is free, and I've interviewed 2. I found our that in California, if sickness results or is likely to result from lack of professional action, the professional w...

john_williams1000@hotmail.com - Railings... - Speaking in general terms: Residential construction codes require that stair and deck railings have only small openings (i.e. a 6" ball can not fit though any opening). I have a friend whose railings in his home have much wider openings (He lives in MA). The condo was build in the early 80's. Were the requirement for railings that less restrictive in the early 80's??? I wo...

"Borax" - Basic Footer Question - Hi, I hope this isn't too dumb, but... I am planning a concrete pad for a BBQ adjacent to my existing patio. In the books I have read, most show the requirement of a footer under the pad's perimeter. The pad will be roughly 9 feet by 28 inches. So, my question is, if the total weight of the installation is, say 1,500 pounds, and I live in an area that has clay soil and no free...

"Tony M" - Re: Granite adhesive question - Actually silicon caulk is the preferred adhesive for granite. I'm in the process of moving and I have a granite table with granite base. It was held together with silicon caulk. I couldnt beleive the trouble I had separating them. The base weighed over 400lbs. We were able to pick up the entire table just by lifting the top. If the OP is only worried about shear forces the sil...

abc@abc.com - Re: Table 503 International Building Code - Table 503 has height and area limitations. I have the NJ edition of the Residential Code. But Table for construction classifications are in the Building Code. NJ uses the 2000 IBC with amendments. Again they have a NJ edition. My Architect says that I have to firerate all interior and exterior walls of a 2 family house because of the classification. It doesn't sound right to me...

"BeeFarmer" - Re: fire break \ fire box?? - You're correct it is mounted on the wall in the picture however, with current regulations it needs to be flush with the wall when mounted 38 "handrail level" to 60 inches on a wall. And yes the swipe card needs to be taken into consideration. Luckily these devices are compact flash and have no fans as heat isn't an issue. Thanks for the info I think what I have found out so ...

"Bobk207" - Re: Any issues with putting Electric Instant Hot Water Heater under house? - If I'm understanding OP's desires; you want hot water w/o significant wait or water waste. You can create a "false" recirc system by connecting a timer & water temperature controlled recirc pump between the hot & cold water lines under the sink closest to your shower. The timer enables the pump which comes on when the water in the pump falls below a set value. The "cooled off" h...
