tbasc@bellsouth.net - Re: Housewrap and pink styrene insulation - The entire wall system must be known before a useful answer can be given. At a guess, what exists is, from inside to out: Gypsum board, Stud with batt insulation, Sheathing, Building Paper, Siding. (I find it hard to believe there is no insulation within the stud cavity.) Kurt - Housewrap and pink styrene insulation - I will soon be replacing weathered fiberboard siding with James Hardie plank siding. Should I also install a housewrap, below this insulation, or is this redundant protection against water and moisture? -- Kurt . ...

"Jeff P" - Re: addition on older home with shallow foundation - I am already in the house. But, I believe you're right. If I merely painted the porch the insurance company would be off my back. However, I don't like the idea of wasting an afternoon scrapeing all the flakeing paint chips off and painting it when the whole floor is ready to fall apart. Of course if it isn't going to do any good anyway maybe I could just roll an extremely crappy pa...
