Concrete should only be poured in the cold/ winter if absolutly necessary and only by a trained professional (not the guy next door who has poured concrete once or twice) If you choose to do it yourself than make sure you have plenty of material (burlap, plastic, weights, warm water, etc..) #1 homeowners don't want to use additives like, "high-early", or calcium. #2 Make sure someone has adequate finishing and placement experience. (Pouring in the cold requires immidiate and rapid placement and finishing) #3 After the concrete is placed and finished you may choose to spray cure and/or sealer (not required) #4 Next cover all exposed concrete with burlap material. #5 Soak the burlap with water. #6 Then cover the wet burlap with plastic sheeting. #7 Lay boards or something to keep the coverings from blowing away. Spraying the burlap with water helps the concrete cure. Burlap insulates the concrete. |
