"Joe" - Re: Moving Water From A Garage Floor With No Drain - I cut some groves in my cellar floor to direct water to a floor drain. They are always getting full of dirt. They are worthless. You will spend two hours every day cleaning those groves as opposed to 15 minutes with a squeegy as Chas suggested. The groves would have to be ½" wide to do any good. -- JerryD(upstateNY) "Chas Hurst" wrote in message ...

"Bobk207" - Re: Qs on Nailing pattern(s) - In SoCal the typical framing nailing is 2 -1 6d sinkers (3 1/4 x .131) thru the sill into the studs, same for the lower top plate. The uppper top plate goes on with 1 or 2 16d sinders per stud bay depending on sheathing. Framing nailing is knida like rebar ties, just holds the frame in place until the skin goes on. True toe nailing (& framing nailing in genreal) has very little ...

"John Gregory" - Re: Moving Water From A Garage Floor With No Drain - It's a good thing I asked before digging in. There may be a misconception here though, Clinton. The garage floor is inside. way from the elements. No snow. no freezing. Just drippings from the car. You've got a point about cutting a groove in that slab and sloping the ...

"Greg" - Qs on Nailing pattern(s) - I am building a shop as an extension to my garage, flowing from the back of the garage into the back yard. Sorry, kids! I may have spam for brains, but I want to make sure the framing passes inspection. My books, magazines, glossy foldouts, and newsgroup Q&As answer all the questions but one: What's an acceptable nailing pattern for the framing itself? I'm envisioning laying the sil...

grus_jc@yahoo.com - Re: sump pit odor - foul - How to clean????? - The smell is not fecal smelling. It's kinda like a very musty rotten egg smell. I ran clean water from my hose down to the pit yesterday for 45 minutes and kept discharging the water thru the pump which ran the water out into the street. The musty smell was back this morning. Not as strong, but came back. Again, nothing drains into this put but the dehumidifier. I checked the coils on th...

"John Gregory" - Moving Water From A Garage Floor With No Drain - My concrete garage floor has no drain. Some of the surface has been etched by winter road salt. I plan to clean the surface - perhaps with a mild solution of muriatic acid - then coat it with Rust-oleium's "Epoxy Shield". But before I begin the task, I'd like to make provision for draining some of that caustic winter sludge that collects and melts on the garage floor; no dra...
