benn686@hotmail.com - Which cleans deeper a Canister or Upright vacuum? - Im looking for a good vacuum for my home where I have 70% hardwood floors (30% carpet). I heard cansters are better for hardwood floors, but Im afraid it wont clean the carpets very well (we have 2 (hairy) labrador retrievers). Are canisters just as powerful on carpet? By the way does anyone have a (<$150) vacuum they would recommend (Kirby, Oreck, Dirt Devil, etc) for my setup? ...

"Scott" - Re: AC burns transformer - I checked the transformer. Actually it has input of 120, 208, 240, 480. Output is 24V with 75VA. I used the 240 input. It cannot be wrong because I measured the voltage many times. What confused me is the AC/Heat worked for almost 3 months. Thanks . ...

We used a combo of commercial tiles and handmade tiles, all "glazed and waterproof", for the countertop and backsplash. The winter is subsiding here, and we found that many of the tiles have chipped from ice buildup within the tiles themselves. This happened regardless of hor...

jonathan_baner@hotmail.com - Whole House Fan-Ducted Exhaust - Thank you in advance for any direction with this query. I have a 2 story home with a walk up attic and I'm contemplating whether or not it is an option to install a whole house fan mounted (horizontal) on a stand/pedestal 4-6" off the floor on the attic floor (no hole cut through floor). Basically I'm thinking of installing the fan close to the gable and then build ducting directly to ...
