Whole House Fan-Ducted Exhaust

Thank you in advance for any direction with this query. I have a 2 story home with a walk up attic and I'm contemplating whether or not it is an option to install a whole house fan mounted (horizontal) on a stand/pedestal 4-6" off the floor on the attic floor (no hole cut through floor). Basically I'm thinking of installing the fan close to the gable and then build ducting directly to the gable vents. Since I just have gable vents in this attic, I do have the ability to close off the other vents in the attic and can create essentially a closed system which would pull air from the lower floor(s) rather than the attic (by opening up the attic door). I'm thinking that this setup will reduce my noise and also eliminate having a heat losing hole in my upstairs ceiling during the winter. Be aware that the house has a slate roof and therefore no ridge or soffit vents to worry about. My thought is |
