frippletoot@hotmail.com - Re: Question about depth to dig before laying brick patio - Clay shrinks and expands when it goes thru wet-dry cycles. This movement will make your pavers move also, just like house foundations that aren't done right. We put in pavers too...the right way, and they've been very stable. Don't take shortcuts. Also...putting down a permeable weed barrier cloth at the bottom of the hole, under the gravel and sand, helps to keep weeds and grass fro...

"Lucy" - Re: Question about depth to dig before laying brick patio - This isn't what you asked, but I wanted to share something that happened to us last year. I don't know what state you are in, but in Texas, we call Texas Excavation and Safety Systems before digging. Now, the standard they tell you is you don't have to call unless you are digging 16 inches or deeper, but we hit the gas line in an older home that we bought as a rental property.. becau...

"Snow Bunny!" - Re: Raccoons in barn - Thanks for the suggestions all but I need an inexpensive way of getting rid of the raccoons from the 2nd story barn. They are leaving raccoon $%%% everywhere and I just want them out of there. I don't have a gun or a trap, and I know it costs money to have them caught and taken away which I don't have right now. I just need something relatively inexpensive to prevent them from hanging...

"Mike" - Re: Water Heater programmer - Well since it is wired directly to a breaker I was wondering how to put a timer in there without breaking into the line but that sounds like what you are talking about. I hope they have such a switch for a 240v line. Our hot water usage is sporadic. We will probably get close to emptying the tank (50 gals) from 6am to 7am (3 showers). Then the hot water is probably only used when ru...

"Sue" - Re: Electric not working in Guest house - No, I haven't tried that. I haven't tried much of anything other than switching the breakers in the guest house on and off. I looked at the box in the main house but didn't see levers switched over so I figured they were OK. I will try your suggestion and hope it's as easy as that! Thanks . ...

"Sue" - Electric not working in Guest house - We had a small guest house, a little bigger than a shed put up a few years ago at our summer place , this year the electric doesn't work.
