This isn't what you asked, but I wanted to share something that happened to us last year. I don't know what state you are in, but in Texas, we call Texas Excavation and Safety Systems before digging. Now, the standard they tell you is you don't have to call unless you are digging 16 inches or deeper, but we hit the gas line in an older home that we bought as a rental property.. because the line had been laid incorrectly. So just a heads up to be careful, even if you're not digging that deep.
