Clay shrinks and expands when it goes thru wet-dry cycles. This movement will make your pavers move also, just like house foundations that aren't done right. We put in pavers too...the right way, and they've been very stable. Don't take shortcuts. Also...putting down a permeable weed barrier cloth at the bottom of the hole, under the gravel and sand, helps to keep weeds and grass from coming thru from underneath. To keep weed seeds that get in the spaces between pavers from getting big, pour boiling water on the seedlings. Much less toxic than chemical weed killers, and lots cheaper. The boiling water has not hurt our pavers. . |
