Well since it is wired directly to a breaker I was wondering how to put a timer in there without breaking into the line but that sounds like what you are talking about. I hope they have such a switch for a 240v line. Our hot water usage is sporadic. We will probably get close to emptying the tank (50 gals) from 6am to 7am (3 showers). Then the hot water is probably only used when running the dish washer around 6pm or the occasional hand washing. We only use cold water for clothes so it isn't an issue there. If I had the tank off for a week it would save money, true? Well if I had it off for 14 hours per day it seems like it should save some money from a common sense perspective. $15 per month is not much but what the hell. If a $10 timer can do that, then it's worth it. It's at least worth a try. I will let you know how it turns out. I have an extra |
