"No" - Re: New picture window installation questions? - It doesn't sound like you are planning to do it yourself. Ignore the other posters. Get at minimum 3 estimates. Make sure they all quote, off of the top of my head: The window, brand and model relocate any electrical if present Header if required drywall repairs siding replacement as necessary flashing as recommended by window manufacturer interior trim painting You may ...

"Doc Savage" - Re: whole house fan in new construction - The main reason I didn't have the builder install the fan for me was because: (1) they could give me an exact location of where the fan would be located and (2) they would use an inferior (small) 28 to 30" fan, (3) I had no control over the switch placement and (4) they wanted like $500 for this option. So I figured could remedy all of these for about $400 and still pay them just $100 f...

roger61611@yahoo.com - Re: whole house fan in new construction - If it's a non-custom builder they will throw a fit. If you take the fan up there they'll take it out or tell you to come and get it, sling or no. IMO the best approach would be to pay them to frame for it and wire a outlet and switch for you. . ...

"Doc Savage" - whole house fan in new construction - My father wants me to haul the massive 42" whole house fan into the attic just before drywall goes up in my home under construction. We are dealing with a non-custom builder who isn't very flexible on most things. My dad says that if I hang the fan onto the roof rafters where it is out of the way, nobody should care (it'll be out of the way of the insulation guys) and it will sav...

"Travis Jordan" - Re: Pool Cleaner for Concrete Pool - Userb3 wrote: > So its not connected to the pool's filter/circulation system at all? > What is the booster pump boosting? The booster pump input connects to the circulating pump outlet, and of course the outlet of the booster pump connects to the pool sweep. That is pretty much the way they all work. http://www.polarispoolsystems.com/pdf/180.pdf . ...

"Doc Savage" - Whole House Fan with inadequate venting (NFA net free area) - So I am planning on adding a large whole house fan to my new home. The house has 13 roof vents and 13 under eave vents. I might have 6 sq. ft NFA between them all, which is quite good for a new home, but probably not the 18 NFA reccomended for the Mongo 42" 1/2 hp fan I will be adding. I think the fan is rated at like 11000 CFM. My question is: whats the real risk of adding this ...

Is your pool really concrete or is it gunite with marsite or a crushed stone finish? If it is really finished concrete I think any pool sweep would still work fine, you'd just have to replace the tires and tail scrubbers a bit more frequently due to faster wear. (Isn't...

roger61611@yahoo.com - Re: Home Inspection Reveals Termites....Should I buy? - I would get a further inspection done and if a) The seller will pay to bring the termite treatment up to date - which they haven't kept up with or else there wouldn't be any tubes, and b) No significant damage is found upon a more rigorous inspection then I would buy it. One tube plus no real damage is not a major deal. The key is getting a real hardnose inspector who knows ...
