] [ 151727 ] [ alt.building.construction ] [ view full article ] "James" - Maximum Span for Shed, without supporting posts?? - I am neither a builder or carpenter. I saw a shed today at Home Depot, that measured 16 x 16. It had a loft second story to it for additional storage. There are no internal supporting posts. The joists were 2 x 10, and spanned the full 16 ft width of the shed. I was wondering if a person could use 2 x 12s, and span up to 24 feet without supporting posts? I doubt i... |

] [ 151724 ] [ alt.building.construction ] [ view full article ] Rick Beilfuss - Re: Small Gable Roof - No ties or ridge beams? - My opinion, for what it's worth: I would head to a welding shop to get 2 steel "archways" welded up. If I understand the sizes correctly, 6" rafters should be overkill and probably 2x4 box posts or I beams. Have one made for each end, and mount on concrete. Then fasten 2x6 wood purlins 24"oc between the "c" channels and add your roofing and ceiling. You should end up with 2 6"... |

The top of the bank is about 5 foot high above the drive and the grade of a building lot above continues to increase. The problem area is on the one side, along the bank. I plan to make the thickness of the repair about 5" over new crushed and packed stone. ... |

How could all this water have leaked from a nail hole ? Why didn't anyone there know how to shut the water off ? I know that some systems will have an auxiliary pump that will start up when the pressure in the line drops but it won't come spilling out every fire head in the building. This sounds like a phony story to me. -- ... |
