"Fred" - Re: Replacing furnace with heat pump - Thanks again, Phil. Where would a feller find the ASHRAE design data? "Phil Scott" wrote in message news:dbqahi$674$1@news.tdl.com... >Some years are also hotter or cooler than others... the ambient outside air design conditions published by ASHRAE are an average... so sizing per the calcs will STILL give you variable results from year to year. ...

Boat_dreams - Re: Max Slope for 3" or 4" Sewer line to Septic? - In our county 3" ABS has 1/4" per ft. min slope and 4" ABS has 1/8" per ft. min slope. There is no maximum. In practice the min slope is held to the easement line or close to the septic system, then dives to the hook-up. My foothill area has distribution lines running at slopes from 1/4" to 6" per ft. and I've never heard of any problems due to higher slopes. Good luck, Boat_dr...

"ANDY WIERSMA" - Re: Max Slope for 3" or 4" Sewer line to Septic? - You will want as much slope as possible with the 80' dist.. I would also recomend installing a clean out tee somewhere near the house on the exterior where you can reach it with a hose or a plumber can get in with equipment in case of a clog without bringing messy equipment in your house. "Scott Townsend" - Re: Max Slope for 3" or 4" Sewer line to Septic? - 90° is fine, its a different issue then a slope. The liquid and solid fall in a 90° at the same rate, where as the friction in the slope causes different velocities for the different substances. "BP" - Re: Max Slope for 3" or 4" Sewer line to Septic? - From all of the designs I've built from, the slope from the house to the tank is always 2%. Never seen it different. The slope from the tank to the leaching bed can be greater. I've never seen a 3" line outside of the house. taegu2@aol.com - Enclosing and Remodelling a pool area. - I have a home built in the 80's and I am considering a major remodel of the existing pool area including enclosing the pool, and resurfacing the pool deck with some type of non-slippery tile. Two sides of the pool are bordered by the home, and there is an existing second story deck overlooking the pool. I am thinking about tearing down the existing deck, and rebuilding a nice interior ...

"Steven" - Re: Labor, future craftsmen, undocumented workers - There is such a misconception that illegals only suck from society's tit, and give nothing in return. I beg to differ with this opinion. I have three Mexican workers, that are illegal. Now, before everyone flames me, yes, they supplied me with the necessary documents (social security card and INS work permit). Could they be fake? Sure. Is it my job to enforce the law concerning ...

"Neil" - Cavity tray - I have just been told by the building inspector that because the outside wall of my sons single storey extension will become an inside wall, we need to fit cavity trays above the tiles at lead flashing level. "Nehmo" - Re: Expanding urethane foam - - Nehmo – The utility company corrected a problem it caused. That's good. But every problem near the wires is not the company’s responsibility, and in this case, it is not. When there is no direct cost for work, people sometimes selfishly ignore that *someone* needs to pay or provide the work. Even a simple inspection trip out to a house requires a worker, a truck, some preparatio...
