grus_jc@yahoo.com - sump pit odor - foul - How to clean????? - Need some help. I've had a sump pump in a pit for over 6 years. No problems. I have a dehumidifier hose running to the pit and every time it dumps water into the pit I get this foul odor. Removing the hose and just using the bucket under the dehumidifier works fine and the basement smells fine. Why would minimal water in the pit cause the smell? How do you clean the pit to prevent thi...

"Karen" - Re: Any ideas for rain run-off on a corrugated steel arched roof? - All, Thanks so much for your input. I was hoping to avoid talking to the architect (trying to keep costs down), but I bumped into him today and he told me that the arch is NOT sloped down as it moves away from the house, so water will run down the sides despite the corrugation running perpendicular to it. False alarm! That Berridge product is very nice looking, Dan. If I ever fin...

Jeff Dantzler - rebar detailing question - I am installing some footings to repair a "lean-to" style shed attached to the back of my garage. Currently the load from the 4x4 posts is supported by pier blocks resting on the ground. I would like to pour some concrete footings as follows: 30" deep hole wide enough to fit my tamper down, undisturbed soil on bottom. 6" 5/8" minus crush rock tamped. a 10" sonotube will giv...
