xnewman@gmail.com - 2 year old York heat pump - I have a 5 ton york gas unit for the basement and the main floor. It runs great in winter and summer. I also have a 2 ton york heat pump for the upstairs for heating and cooling. The 2 ton unit does not heat or cool the house very well. Air flow is weak throughout the upstairs. Anyone have any thoughts on how I can improve the heating and cooling of this unit as well as improve air flow?...

98olds@celtic.ca - Re: garage door opener chain coming off - Thanks again - this worked perfectly and was fairly simple. The only thing that got me stuck for a few minutes is that on the bottom of the shaft, there is a plastic gear held in place by a plastic retainer clip - once i removed this the whole unit came smoothly out the top and I was able to install the new part. . ...

It would collect significantly at the highest spot it can reach, first. Thus code calls for installation there. roger61611@yahoo.com - Re: Goodman A/C quality ? - Had one fellow in the biz tell me Goodman was all right. Personally if I had the money I would replace the whole setup, get the rebate, and go as efficient as I could afford, because IMO energy prices are going up, forever. Do the overall math including the efficiency of your current furnace and the SEER rating ont he Goodman, vs. the new system... . ...

trader4@optonline.net - Re: Switch from 15 to 30 Yr. Mortgage? - "Yes but shouldnt we only consider the difference between the 30year rate and the 15 year rate? As opposed to the whole say 5%? " The issue really isn't the diff in the rates, which is only about .5%, with the 30 yr being higher. The real issue is the with the 30 yr, the loan gets paid off much slower. If he stays there, it will take another 15 yrs and all the interest that goes w...

trader4@optonline.net - Re: Smoke Detector Hell - IMO, the AC powered units are the best, so that you don't have to deal with changing batteries. There is a very small chance that the power could go off as part of a fire before the smoke detectors are activated, but I think this is very remote. On the other hand, people die every year in homes with smoke detectors where the batteries were dead. And unless the code required it, I'd ge...
