"Johan L. Alexander" - Re: Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Bart - I agree about Saba. Lovely island, but no snorkeling facilities as there are no beaches. Unless you hire a boat or book a guided boat tour. St. Maarten/St. Martin has some nice beaches, but flourishing coral? Neh. We did a lot of snorkeling at Baie Rouge (or Red Bay), in the western part of the island. No spectaculair coral, fishes only near the rocks. St. Barthelemy is lovely too. Be...

"Robert J Carpenter" - Re: Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Bart - Better check about snorkeling if you think of Saba. It is a prime DIVING spot, but I'm not sure about depths for snorkeling. I haven't found any first-class beach access snorkeling places on St Martin. The little rock reef off the Pedro's end of Club Orient has quite a few nice fish in shallow water. I've even seen a green moray eel there. The snorkeling at Ilet Pinel wasn't anywh...

newfinon94 - Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Bart - We're off in mid-May for three weeks of wandering around the beaches of Anguilla, St. Martin's and St. Bart's. In addition to beach combing, hiking and sunning, we'll have our snorkel gear and will be looking for areas that have plenty of colorful fish and flourishing coral. Are there any 'not-to-be-missed' snorkel spots (either shore-based or excursion) on these islands or is it all...

"callaloo" - Re: Conde Nast Surveys OR Loose Lips Sink YOUR Ship - Until recently, I had been a Conde Nast Traveler subscriber for several years. One year, I received one of their surveys, asking me to rate top hotels all over the world. Well, I hadn't been to many. However, when I looked at the Costa Rica section, I was asked to rate 3 hotels in San Jose. First, there are no five-star properties in San Jose. However, one of those listed was a rundown h...
