"Steven" - - If all see is the supply line coming into the basement that feeds the rest of your system, you probably do not have a BFP. You would see a series of shut-off valves with a short contraption between them if you had one. That would be cheaper, right? Good products. The 4'x8' (or 10') panels would be the fastest and cheapest. Might not be the look you're after, though. To provide specific answers we need the specifics. In future, give more infor...

"Steven" - Re: HWH leaking - Do you have a backflow preventer on your main line? If so, you need an expansion tank. As the pressure builds, the check valve on the BFP won't allow the pressure to be returned down line back into the water system. Even if you don't have a BFP, you may still need an exp.tank. We've had the problem before where a valve would pop off during middle of the night. It was a mystery a...

M&S - Anyone used/applied any borate wood treatments? - Hello all, I am in the process of finishing the timberframe for a 28 x 50 garage. I am thinking for simple insurance (green timber of course) of spraying the frame with a borate wood treatment once we hit dry in. Have any of you used any of the commercially available concentrates/wettable powders? I have been looking at Timbor or Boracare and thought perhaps some of you may have ...

"butch burton" - Re: HWH leaking - Water pressure in a city system can be all over the place - can be a huge range as another poster pointed out - replumbed a former house of mine overe the weekend - w baths, sprinkler system and it was easy. IIRC the pressure reducing valve cost about $40. Copper is easy to cut/sweat - a plumber would charge you plenty though. Easy to replace the relief valve also - they just screw o...

"Bobk207" - Re: HWH leaking - take a look at this info.............. http://www.factsfacts.com/MyHomeRepair/PressureRelief.htm city water pressure can be in the 40 to 70 psi range (I prefer higher end because I want the garden hose & sprinklers for have some real flow) IMO you've got a bad valve or some grit / dirt / hard water deposits on the valve seat. Try activating the valve again (several times)...
