"Percival P. Cassidy" - Re: OTR Microwave - You need to take a look at the installation instructions for whatever microwave you are thinking of buying. The OTR microwaves I've installed hang on a plate that is attached to the wall but also have 2 or 3 bolts that go through the bottom of the cabinet above into threaded holes in the frame of the MW. Whether these are within 12" of the wall will depend on the design. On b...

"KOS" - Stanley Electric Garage Opener Question- please advise - Hi, I have a Stanley Electric Garage Openener- Professional Series- approximately 10 years old or more. The system has been working flawlessly- however now I am not able to use the remotes and when I press the wall mounted button the garage opens- but when I press to close the light flashes and the door goes back up. THe only way to close it is by holding the wall mounted button and pres...

trader4@optonline.net - Re: Pressure washing before exterior paint necessary? - I'd run from a painter that told me no cleaning was required. Siding gets dirty and paint will not adhere well to dirt, with the result being it will peel off when the painter is long gone. Scraping only removes loose paint, not the dirt from the paint that is not coming off. There are some painters that prefer to hand wash rather than power wash, though that is more labor. I think...

JiggaHertz - OTR Microwave - I have an old range hood that I'm thinking about replacing with an OTR Microwave, but I have a couple of concerns. First the hood is currently on a 20A lighting circuit, I don't have a problem installing an outlet in the cabinet from the current wiring, but I've never installed a new circuit. Is a dedicated 20A circuit necessary for an OTR Microwave. Also, my cabinets are 12...

trader4@optonline.net - Re: Bank Bait & Switch? - Yeah, I agree with Sam. Some lenders have been known to jerk people around left and right on loans like this. The fact that they didn't tell you about a 1 pt fee up front which they later pulled out of their pocket, speaks for itself. Is this the first loan they ever did so they didn't know about it? Of course not. I'd carefully review what info they gave you and anything that you...

"ionltd@rr1.net" - Re: driveway garage floor height? - No apron, no asphalt here. He wants to pour the concrete so where it meets the driveway there is a 1.5-2.5 inch DROP. The water will pool at that point clear across the garage door. A 1/2 inch drop after an apron that's even with the floor is a differerent thing. Imagine stepping down 2 inches from the garage to the driveway . ...

"pegleg" - weird home lighting problem - I noticed the brightness of the lights in one bedroom are much lower than before. The fixture holds 4 40 watt bulbs and gives much less light than the other BR which has 3 40 watt bulbs. This started recently. Does anyone have experience with this odd situation? I bought a new set of bulbs but the effect remained the same. Could the wall control be at fault? (It is a fancy one with fa...
