I think the issue here is that real estate professionals have been around for over 100 years. Real estate professionals are involved in well over 80% of the residential transactions in the country each year, and on the average homes sold by realtors sold for 15.6% more than homes sold privately. There are weak agents and strong ones, knowledgeable and not so knowledgeable, agents with genuine care and concern for their clients and bastards. This is true with any industry, and each person has to overcome their own threshold for pain. Somewhere between a scratched finger and brain surgery most people choose to go to a doctor - some choose not to go even on their death bed, it is an individual choice, and it does not make doctors bad just because some people choose not to use them.
