I have to say that you must have talked to a good agent. Most average agents usually the part timers and hobbyists are content to list a home however the seller wants and squeezing the seller to accept the first (and usually only) low ball offer that comes in. The strong agent will push to list a home enough below market to draw in multiple offers and create a bidding war. I would ask this agent how he manages a bidding war to be sure he is not just blowing smoke, but an agent skilled in negotiation can earn his full commission many times over. Your assumption is somewhat faulty, and not fair to yourself. Receiving and negotiating multiple offers is a skill that is basically learned and honed through experience. Just because an agent has these skills, knowledge and resources does not mean that you, with your limited industry contacts, short experience in this area and limited knowledge would be able to achieve the |
