Well, the original poster is probably correct about Realtors selling homes at higher prices than FSBOs. Sales statistics in my area(Long Island, NY) confirm that Realtors sell houses at a good deal higher than FSBOs. This is true for a variety of reasons. First, Realtors, being real estate professionals, have a much better grasp of the market than do the homeowners who try to sell as s FSBO, thus they are better informed as to pricing homes, and will price the properties accordingly. Also, Realtors have access to far more buyers than do FSBOs. Most FSBOs only put a sign in their yard and hope for the best, while Realtors have the full range of ads, websites, referrals, signs, etc. at their disposal to give the properties maximum exposure. Thus, they are more likely to get a buyer willing to pay the highest price. That's why Realtors sell properties for higher prices. Darren |
