It is nice to have certifications, but, the real issue is sales skills and negotiating skills. Where I am agents have no willingness to negotiate. I have seen many willing buyers and sellers only a few thousand dollars apart loose a contract they both wanted because agents did not recognize the value of terms and how they could be used to bring agreement on price. The bottom line is that technology is expensive and sales is a people business. If you do not know how to put a deal together, you just have a bunch of expensive toys. Perhaps I am a bit too old, when I was in 11th grade one person in my class had a $400 bomar brain which was larger than the laptop I now use. By my second year of college TI was selling hand held scientific calculators for $30. When I started work, the Xerox copiers were all electrostatic (they used rolled paper similar to the fax machines of 10 years ago). It was |
