It would be approximately how much the homeowner would be willng to pay to rent an equivalent house. If it's a $1 mil house, he could rent it for $50,000 per year. But that's only $50,000 -- compared to the re-sale value of the house, which is $1,000,000. Thus, the re-sale component is the much more important consideration -- for the smart person. > for another thing, the value when it is eventually sold is relative to the value of the home bought. That's only if you plan to own a house forever. Most people eventually sell their house and move to a condo in arizona or florida, or they sell their house when they die.
