If by "sistered" you mean a new joist alongside a water-damaged joist, be aware that any rot (fungal degradation) in the old joists will infect the new joist; best to removed any rotten sections (ideally the whole joist, but not necessary), patch the removed sections, then apply the new joists alongside the patched on BOTH sides, using glue *and* nails. . |
