Condo prez wants to prohibit renting

I bought a brand new condo last year. The rules said I can rent it out after living it one year. So that time has passed and I put a "For Rent" sign outside my unit. Next thing I know the condo president is saying she does not like renters because they lower property value. She said she will fight to have the association vote to not allow renters. My question is if renters are so bad then why do most condos allow it? I am guessing the association will definitely vote to not allow renters. But why did they allow it in the first place? Most other condos in my city do allow it. Do I have any legal right to rent? Or is it always entirely up to the association? If so, how do investors do it when at any moment the association can vote to not allow renters? . |
