I am a Realtor in the Las Vegas market, but some of these answers are universal. :-) 1) The mortgage may or may not hurt your ability to buy your next property. One consideration is that a mortgage that is in good standing and has always been paid up on time makes for another good tradeline that is on your credit report. Unless you have multiple multiple trade lines that are all maxed out, this should help improve, but at the very least not harm, your credit score. Also keep in mind that you are waiting for your wife to finish school and get a job before moving. This additional income stream should actually help you qualify for more money the next time you go to apply for a loan. This being said, keep in mind that the lending market changes constantly, so it is very difficult to predict what will be wanted from you two years from now in this ever-changing "creative financing" world in which we live. |
