My assumption was that "The Space Boss" (the OP) was doing a fairly vanilla purchase of a FSBO. Please clarify if this is or is not the case. Do you intend to use owner (seller) financing? If not, then in the majority of cases, upon closing there is a title transfer and "The Space Boss" becomes the new owner of the property. If you obtain a mortgage from a bank or mortgage company, they may require an impound/escrow account, as Rick stated, in order to pay for insurance and taxes; however, you are still responsible to obtain your own home owner's insurance (as I originally stated) with minimum coverage set forth by the lender. Getting your own insurance and impound/escrow accounts are not mutually exclusive. You are also responsible to pay into this account via your monthly payment. |
