Jeremy, $800 a month for car loans is not an insignificant amount. I think it is way to high considering your income is really quite moderate at 40k. You may want to sell the vehicle that is costing you 550/month, get a cheap used car and then go back to the banks. Even with a good credit history you may have trouble getting them to lend more than 100k. I'm sure you are aware the banks use standard calculations that determine, based on your debt/ income/ credit history, what you can afford.
