> How do you get around Mexico's constitution, not allowing foriegners to own beachfront land? Buyers can either establish a 100 percent foreign-owned Mexican corporation that holds title to the property, or the buyer can establish a bank trust (fideicomiso) in which a Mexican bank acts as trustee and holds title on behalf of the foreign citizen, who has all of the rights of an owner including selling, renting, improving the property, etc. The bank trust (fideicomiso) mechanism was established to work around the Mexican Constitution without requiring a constitutional amendment. The system has been proven to be secure for all parties -- U.S. title insurance companies issue policies regularly in such cases.
