There is a way to legally avoid the Self Employment tax, (social security taxes) if you are married. Employ your wife and pay her to money you would otherwise earn. Code says you do not have to pay social security taxes on a a spouse when she works for you. So if you pay her what you would normally get you would have no self employment tax and she would have to pay only straight income tax. You will find that most income tax preparers do not know about his rule. I went to HR Block and another CPA years ago and neither know how I could get out of the SS tax. Good luck, make sure you check the code. I got this out of JK Lassiters Professional income tax manual about 15 years ago. Hopefully nothing has changed.
