I am a little concerned by self employment taxes,,, just because in addition to being self employed, I am a land lord, I get taxed less for my rental income... even though I run my rentals as a business... I guess rental income should be taxed the same as self employment income. other than that... I am suggesting that ... 1, the bank is helping to enforce the self employment tax rule by not allowing a person with multiple un registered DBA's to cash checks, 2. You can certainly get around self employment tax by having checks made out to different people and then cashing them illegally. I do not condone this but I am sure it had been done, and tried. What I would like to see is capitol gains, rental income, and employment income taxed at the same rate. SS tax should not stop when you have earned 80K it should continue with out end, and SS tax. FICA should be assessed on all forms of income. P |
