This has been a weird thread and fittingly ends up with a Nazi Fruitcake to cap it off. Are all of you expecting a Y2K situation? Do you think you will wake up one morning and find that your house just lost 50% of its value? "Well, I owe the bank $75K and my house is not worth what I paid for it so I will now sell it at a loss and move". Are you all nuts? I lived on my street for 16 years. The original owners watched their house sell for less than they paid for it, go up very, very slowly for many years and finally shoot up like crazy. All but one sold by now. Nobody sold at a loss. If you want to short real estate, become a lender. You can find some poor sap who is going to buy a condo in Miami he can't afford, won't be able to rent for anywhere near his note and can't sell when the market softens. Then you take the property back after refinancing him at 50% of its value. |
