I have used both LP grill and NG grill before, but I can't tell you which gas burns hotter, as the two are of different grill designs. NG has lower molecular weight, so it makes sense that it should have less energy density. However, NG grills are designed to feed the flame with a richer mix and at a higher flow rate. To me the biggest difference between the two is that NG never runs out, and that has made a big difference in the way I cook on the grills. On the NG grill, I am in no hurry to cook the meat, as I am sure the gas will be there for as long as it takes to cook. Often I will use indirect heat in a dual burner NG grill. It allows meat to cook slowly for a long period of time without charring. I would often put a solidly frozen piece of meat over the burner that is off, set the other burner to high, close the lid, and let it cook for an hour or more while I go away and do something else. After cooking, I set both |
