"He said that he has not done closings in NY, but he would be astonished if even in NY the seller were actually handed funds at the same time they sign the grant deed, instead of expecting to pick up or be sent the funds a day or two later. " Well, he's be astonished in many places then, NJ being one. I've done several closing here and when I was the seller, I walked away with a check or the seller walked away with a check. I can see if a party isn't present at the closing having the check mailed. But if you are there, the whole purpose of the closing is to figure out the goes intos and goes outas and cut a check. No reason they can't hand it to you. . |
