This is all possible, but it's still not a big deal to most people. "OH MY GOD! Is that deck permitted?!". I mean, really. It's only a big deal if you get caught and have to rip it all out and see many thousands of dollars go down the drain. Like the guy with the deck I know about or the other example a previous poster gave you where the building inspector was demanding that drywall be taken down because the electric work was never inspected. And someone also raised the issue of insurance coverage. Like if your house burns down and the carrier says, "We're not paying because we believe the fire originated in uninspected electrical work in an illegal conversion to a two family" Guess no one should worry about that either, right? "Only if the seller is afraid of his own shadow like you seem to be. If the quality of the construction is good then it is good. If it is poor then it is poor." |
