Oct through Feb is not a good time for house shopping. There is opportunity to grab some bargains as people who list at these times are either inexperienced or forced (transfer, loss of job, etc) to sell. Lots of times I look at the "days on market" as an indicator of how much I can dicker down the price but if you are buying at this time of year it will always be higher because of the lack of buyers so it isn't a good measure. Now that I understand that there is another buyer involved I understand. The realtors were trying to get a bidding war started. Realtors love that sort of thing and with two parties in love with a house, they just see dollar signs. Lots of fun for them, sad for you. While some care about their reputation, most do not. Buyers come and go and very rarely do they count on referrals or repeat business. In a rising rate environment they are going to care even less because most |
