Window vs. wall heater/AC unit

I'm building a 18x20 workroom coming off the back of the (attached to the house) garage. Can't duct the HVAC from the main house to the workroom. It seems my choices for heating and cooling are window units, baseboard heaters, or wall units (a la hotel room units). I will be need the room to be at least 50 deg. or so year round (don't want glue or varnish to gum up, or the flourescent light ballasts to go bad). Wall units claim to be more energy efficient, and a better look than a window unit/baseboard combo. They're more expensive, but I have the ability now (before siding and drywall go up) to put the hole in the wall. Are the wall units that good? Does the collective wisdom like these wall units over AC/baseboard combos? How do you heat and cool a one-room addition? Thanks. Greg . |
