Chimney Flashing

A friend asked me to examine the flashing on her chimney and give her an assessment. The chimney needs tuck pointed and a few bricks are cracked; mortar and silicon caulk will solve that problem. The flashing, however, has pulled away from the brick. It appears that whoever did the last roof job, didn't put the flashing in the mortar joint but simply affixed the flashing to the face if the brick and sealed the edge at the top. It was dark when I say the job so I couldn't determine exactly how the flashing was affixed. What's used to hold flashing to brick when installed this way? . |
