Azek boards are made of PVC material which is impervious to decay but susceptible to UV light. If left exposed it will yellow and become brittle. You should coat it with paint to protect it from UV light. A good, high quality, 100% acrylic latex primer and a coat of 100% acrylic latex paint will last many more years on PVC trim than on wood. It will chalk and fade long before it cracks or peels. You shouldn't use alkyd primers or paints on PVC trim. PVC expands and contracts a lot with temperature and those coatings are too brittle for that application.
