Painting new concrete basement floor - recommendations/warnings

My brother and I are trying to put down some kind of paint (or other coating?) quick in the basement of my Mother's new house. We basically have the coming weekend to work on it (possibly the weekend after). After that she will be moving in and the basement will be filled with all kinds of 'stuff'. The concrete is several months old. It's also fairly unevenly discolored so my mother wants cover it somehow with an opaque layer. I was planning on using Behr's 1-coat epoxy on the floor. Since the floor is new, does it need to be etched and/or primed? Any recommendation on other products are welcome. Any warnings against painting are welcome as well. Thanks in advance -John P.S. basements in my family are used more as laundry / utility / work rooms than storage or living space. However this basement is large enough I believe my mother wants to divide it and finish off part of it |
